2024 Goals.
The new year is just a few days away. While it's easy to figure out a few things resolutions for the new year. The important thing is to make sure they are obtainable. 2023 didn't work out exactly as i had planned. But, 2024 is a fresh start and with time, patience, and practice... these goals should be achievable.
Goal 1: Health and Fitness
I'm currently hovering around 245lbs. I am down from two years ago at my peak of 270lbs... But i still have a long way to go in order to reach my goal weight of 175lbs. In order to achieve it (if it's even possible anymore) I'll have to modify my diet and exercise routine. I am working towards a weight loss goal of 1lbs per week throughout 2024. That would put me around 193lbs by the end of next year. Reaching 193lbs would be an awesome feat. And I'd be especially happy to get there. I once had a female roommate that told me fat people were disgusting. That was before i gained weight. I'm curious to think of what she would think of me now. There's three major changes that I'm making which i hope to accomplish this goal.
Change 1.) Eliminate Sugary Drinks from my diet.
Change 2.) Eliminate Fast Food of any kind.
Change 3.) Commit to 30+ minutes of moderate activity per day.
I feel that after 12-16 weeks of committing to this diet and exercise change... I'll start to see visible results which will better reinforce my drive and motivation to keep going throughout the rest of the year.
Goal 2: Consistent Routine.
One thing that I struggle with most is routine. I don't know if it's because the foundational routines which most children are taught were never truly instilled in me or if it's a matter of poor time management on my part. But these routines are crucial to a normal life. A quick 30 minute routine when waking up, and before going to sleep. The key is consistently following through on the routine. 8 hours of sleep is what i should get "Most" nights. A little more or a little less is fine, but the key amount is 8 hours. On Average (based on tracking - i get about 8 hours and 44 minutes per night). Knowing this, If i wake up too early i tend to feel groggy (and by to early i mean less than 8 hours). By the same right, if i get to much sleep i feel the same way. Given that i have to be at work, at my desk, and setup and ready for a meeting at 8am... I need to arrive at the office at 7:45am. It's roughly 15-20 minutes for my commute so that puts me at 7:25am. My alarm should be set for 6:45 and i should be up and in the shower by 7:00am. If i go with planning on sleeping for 8 hours... I need to be asleep for 10pm given that it usually takes me an hour to fall asleep at night. My morning routine should start at 6:45am... and my evening routine should start at 9:30pm in the evening. This is my proposed routine
Morning Routine:
Wake - Shower, Shave, Deodorant, Brush Teeth
Cup of Coffee, Breakfast, Leave for work
Evening Routine
Silence Cell Phone (Except when on-call), Take medication,
Journal for 10 minutes, Read for 10 minutes
Sleep
These two goals... over the course of the year. Should put me in a good mental state throughout 2024 and beyond.
