A new apartment.
So, as of the first of May I have moved into a new apartment. My best friend jumped on the idea when I made mention that I wanted to get a one or two bedroom apartment and he indicated to me that he was willing to be my roommate. My first choice would have been to move into a place with my girlfriend as her lease is going to be up in June, but her and her roommate had discussed options and she decided to stay for another year.
The two bedroom I am currently living in has green walls in every room except the kitchen. It seems like it needed to have been off market for another month as there was furniture still in the apartment when he handed us the keys. While its not the worst thing in the world to get a free chair and fake fireplace... I could have done without all the dirt and dust that's in the apartment. Over the last two days I had moved in most of my furniture and clothes into the place. It's located on the second floor of a four floor house. My upstairs neighbors have kids so I am listening to them stop around a lot. Part of me thinks they are doing it on purpose just to run me out of the house already. The house isn't really well insulated so you can hear a lot of the noise from the street and other rooms in the house from my bedroom. I am currently working on getting my internet, electric, and gas set up so that way I have the utilities in my name. My roommate is going to be splitting everything with me which I am grateful for. He hasn't moved in yet, but he is planning to in the next week or so. I still have to move my desk into the apartment.. although I am realizing now that I may not need to given the fact I have my laptop on my lap right now and I am doing just fine. I am trying to think of what other furniture I have at my uncles and I cant think of really much to be honest. The desk would come in handy because then I could clean off my dresser and put my printer and monitor on it instead. I want to get my fish tank going again. I have a little five gallon tank that I picked up a couple of years ago which has been sitting in storage. Also I have my kitchen stuff which I need to move over... My art work... and some shelving units which I can use for random stuff. I think that's just about everything.
Tomorrow I have to go get new tires put on my car. I ordered them a few days ago and they came in yesterday. Due to moving I put it off till Monday. Also I have to go down to my parents and help them set my old room back up into an office. That's what it had been before I moved in. And that's what it will be until they move into an elderly community. My plan is to be here for the next 12 to 13 months... Hopefully by the time my girlfriend's lease is up next year... she will be ready to move in with me.
There's a few things that I can do to make this place feel a little bit more like home... Usually to takes me a while to feel settles in and given the neighborhood I moved into.. Im sorta at a loss for if im ever going to feel comfortable. I cant tell if a firework just went off.... a car backfired... or there was a gun shot near by. Just one example of the type of neighborhood. Last night I couldn't tell if I was hallucinating or not... but It sounded like someone was fucking with my door handle.. and it also sounded like the guys out back shooting the shit were talking about destroying my car and breaking into my apartment. I'm sure its just paranoid delusions at this point... but there is something to be said for being slightly cautious. I think I fell asleep around one this morning... and I dropped my girlfriend off so she could go to work at 7:45 this morning. I'm a little tired... and I might pass out early tonight as a result.
That's all for now,
